Phoenix Municipal Court Marriage Records
A valid Phoenix municipal area marriage involves a license issued by the Maricopa Superior Court and signed and returned by the applicants. At that point, it becomes a public record maintained by the Clerk of the Superior Court. Therefore, when someone requests a marriage certificate, they are asking for a certified copy of the recorded marriage license.
Marriage certificate requests can be made at the Clerk's Customer Service Center and certain other listed Clerk locations. The records can be inspected for free, while copies are subject to fees. A certified copy costs $30.50 for the certification plus 50 cents per page. There is also a $7 postage and handling fee, where applicable. Anyone can also make the request online through the Marriage License Copy Request Form. A $30 search fee per year or name searched may be assessed if the requester does not provide enough information.
